Homestay

Hello Friends,

Just a quick update on life in Thailand. I have only two days left in my hotel. Two more days of air conditioning and wifi. No more cushy life for me. I learned how to use a squat toilet today. Very eye opening.

Wednesday evening we move in with our host families who live around the province of Sing Buri. We will then be biking to a hub nearby in our districts to continue our language training and TEFL training.

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous about the change from hotel to host family. However, we had a little bit of orientation on Thai living and got more information about our families and it helped a lot. I still don’t know too much, but I do know that some of the host families were contacting Peace Corps staff wondering if they could come to the hotel to make sure we had arrived and to bring us food and make sure we were okay. How heartwarming is that?

Thai people are very kind and always smiling. Yes, we get stared at a lot.. but it is often followed with a big smile. This truly is The Land of Smiles.

Tomorrow we meet the Vice Governor, which means I have to dress Mah Riap Roy (SUPER appropriate). Black and White, Long Skirts, Dress Shoes, dressed to the nines.

That’s all I have for now!

Promise I’ll post more pics next time 🙂

Peace, Love & Thai
